Frequently Asked Questions

You may have come to this page because you’re having trouble accessing the video slideshow on either the Funky Chicken or A Bug Called Doug CDs.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions are included below. If you still have problems accessing the video slideshow in your computer, please contact us.

Q: What is on the CD?

The CD is an enhanced disc, also called a multi-media disc. It has two sections to it – an audio section and a data section.

To play the audio files (the narrated audio book and backing track) through a stereo system or CD player, simply place the disc into your stereo and press ‘Play’. The first track has the narrated audio book. The second track is the backing track, without the narration, so you can try it yourself!

To play the data file (the video slideshow) through your computer, simply do the following:

1. Place the disc into your CD-Rom drive

2. Open the file called FunkyChickenSlideshow.mov using QuickTime Player for Mac or Windows.

(If you do not already have QuickTime Player installed on your computer, instructions for downloading it free of charge are included below.)

Q: How do I play the video slideshow in my computer?

1. Place the disc into your CD-Rom drive

2. Open the file called FunkyChickenSlideshow.mov using QuickTime Player for Mac or Windows.

(If you do not already have QuickTime Player installed on your computer, instructions for downloading it free of charge are included below.)

Q: Where can I get QuickTime Player, and is there any cost?

The QuickTime Player can be downloaded for free from the Apple site.

Once you have downloaded the QuickTime Player and installed it on your computer, simply select it from your list of programs to play the Funky Chicken video slideshow.

Q: Can I play the video slideshow using Windows Media Player?

Whilst some versions of Windows Media Player will play the audio part of the slideshow, the Funky Chicken video slideshow requires QuickTime Player to view the visuals.

To use QuickTime Player, simply follow the instructions in the questions listed above.

Q: Can I play the video slideshow with a DVD or bluray player on the television?

Some newer DVD or bluray players may be able to play the video slideshow, by loading it as a data (.mov) file. However, the disc included in the Funky Chicken book is a CD-Rom, not a DVD, so it is not playable on most DVD players by default. For more information about whether your particular DVD or bluray player can play .mov files from a CD-Rom, please consult the user manual.

Q: Can I play the CD in a stereo or CD player?

Absolutely! All stereos and CD players should immediately recognise the audio section of the CD, and will play the audio tracks just like any other music or audio CD.
